Enjoy the countless beaches in Belle-Ile-en-Mer!

Anchored only 15 km from Quiberon (45 minutes of crossing), the largest of the Ponant islands exudes charm and has everything to seduce you. Belle-Ile-en-Mer is 20km long and 9km wide, offering natural beauty and surprising landscapes which evolve with the tides and seasons.

The island boasts 58 beaches that mingle rocky coves with turquoise waters and large beaches of fine sand. Want to let go? South of Bangor, relax on Donnant beach, renowned for its surf and bodyboard spot. The island also gives pride of place to water sports. Sailing, surfing, stand up paddle boarding, diving, kayaking, salt-water fishing... you can satisfy all your desires.

What to visit in Belle-Ile-en-Mer?

After having berthed at the port of the Palais, visit the Belle-Ile Museum of Art and History located in the heart of the Vauban Citadel. To the north of the island, discover the typical port of Sauzon with its pastel-coloured houses. Try not to miss the Pointe des Poulains and the Sarah Bernhardt Museum

To the south of the island, the Port Coton site offers an exceptional landscape of serrated rocks. This wild coast has inspired many artists such as Claude Monet and Matisse, who were charmed by the beauty of the site. Not far from there, climb the 213 steps of the great Goulphar Lighthouse, and discover a different perspective of Belle-Ile-en-Mer.

How to visit Belle-Ile-en-Mer?

With its 82km of coastline, Belle-Ile-en-Mer is highly appreciated by hikers for its often-magnificent landscapes. Allow about 4 days to walk around the entire island, and discover stunning landscapes. You can also cycle across the island along the specially adapted cycle paths... but be aware that the trails are far from being level!

If you want to fully enjoy your one day visit to the site, there are many ways to get around: a regular bus service, car rental companies and other motor vehicles. 

Tip: for your peace of mind, let us guide you on a bus trip. You will then be able to enjoy Belle-Ile-en-Mer’s main historical sites and emblematic landscapes.

In summer, Belle-Ile-en-Mer attracts many holidaymakers. Don’t forget to book your boat trip in advance as well as a vehicle if you want to get about easily once there.
